All Future Microsoft Titles Will Be Play Anywhere

According to Yusuf Mehdi

Xbox’s own Yusuf Mehdi has revealed that all future Microsoft published games will be a part of the ‘Play Anywhere’ promotion that was recently announced at E3.

For those unaware, ‘Play Anywhere’ means that if you buy a game on Xbox One or Windows PC you’ll be able to play that game on the either system for free and also share achievements and save files.

This new option will require you to update your Windows 10 PC with the Anniversary Update and your Xbox One with the upcoming summer update. However, the ‘Play Anywhere’ promotion won’t be arriving on PC and console until September 13th so there’s no rush.

Although the announcement only came a few weeks ago we already have a list of the confirmed games that will be compatible with ‘Play Anywhere’.

  • Gears of War 4
  • Forza Horizon 3
  • ReCore
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Halo Wars 2
  • Scalebound
  • Killer Instinct Season 3
  • State of Decay 2
  • Ark: Survival Evolved
  • Cuphead
  • We Happy Few
  • Crackdown 3

No doubt 3rd party games will have the opportunity to be a part of the new promotion but it’ll be entirely up to to the developers and publishers. Until then you’ll have a heap of first party titles to play cross platform and plenty more to come in the future.

You can check out our own Adam Thomas’ thoughts on the future of Xbox and ‘Play Anywhere’.

So what do you think of ‘Play Anywhere’? Which games would you like to become cross-platform with PC? Let us know below.
