Ghostbusters oearned itself $46m in north America on it’s opening weekend, not the best start for a movie with a net production budget of $144 million. However Sony has been quick to confirm that this wont be the last time we see Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Kristen Wiig’s Ghostbusters.
“I expect Ghostbusters to become an important brand and franchise,” Sony’s chief of worldwide distribution, Rory Bruer told The Wrap. “While nothing has been officially announced yet, there’s no doubt in my mind it will happen”
The Ghostbusters reboot was hit with lot of negative feeling when the first trailers hit, but it has been received quite positively by both critics and audiences who have actually seen the movie.
