Paramount Pictures have announced a fourth Star Trek movie which comes as a surprise to no one. The new film is expected to be written by J D Payne and Patrick McKay instead of Simon Pegg.
Paramount hasn’t confirmed who will sit in the directors chair this time around but JJ Abrams is back to produce and the core cast will be returning. The role of Chekov will not be recast following the tragic death of Anton Yelchin.
Chris Hemsworth is also returning to the franchise as George Kirk. The official press release reads:
“Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk will cross paths with a man he never had a chance to meet, but whose legacy has haunted him since the day he was born: his father”.
