Gears of War Movie Hinted At @ Comic-Con

We hope it's true!

Gears of War 4 Director Rod Fergusson has hinted at a possible Gears of War movie for the future.

The hint came during a QnA section at developer The Coalition’s Comic-Con panel. When a fan asked about a possible film for the popular Xbox franchise, Fergusson responded, “There is some stuff going on that I can’t talk about today, but I’ll possibly be talking about that stuff very soon. I’m very excited about what the future holds.”

While his answer is somewhat Cryptic, it does tease the possibility of a Gears film going forward. However, this isn’t the first time a Gears of War movie has been rumoured, in 2007 New Line Cinema purchased the rights to the franchise and the project even got a producer and writers but the film seemed to run into a roadblock and all went quiet. Then in 2012, speculation of a Gears movie started to appear again but sadly nothing concrete was released and there has been no news since…until today.

Whether the film would be a retelling of the original Gears trilogy with Marcus Fenix or a completely new story is up for debate, I do know however that our resident Gears fans would love Marcus Fenix to appear on the big screen in some capacity, in his prime or as a wise old man, we’re not fussy.

Gears of War 4 arrives on Xbox One October 7th and will feature Marcus Fenix’s son James Dominic Fenix or J.D Fenix for short.
