Lucy and Ben both had Verdant’s annual release, Putty, an 8% double IPA with Azaka, Galaxy, and Mosaic hops. Adil had Vocation’s Special Edition Doppelganger DDH IPA. They discuss the rise of quality alcohol-free beers and how the market has expanded beyond basic lagers.
Lucy played the demo for Duck Detective: The Secret Salami, a lighthearted mystery game about a bread-addicted detective solving simple cases. She also checked out Rupuka’s Idle Island, a relaxing widget game about a frog trimming grass.
Ben played Tiny Towns, a strategic town-building game where players must optimize placement of buildings to generate income and survive tax payments. He also jumped back into No Man’s Sky, exploring the latest Worlds update featuring deep-sea environments and improved planetary variety.
They also revisited Monument Valley 3 but was frustrated that most of the game felt like an extended tutorial, with the real puzzles only arriving near the end—just in time for Netflix to tease additional levels requiring an ongoing subscription.
Ben has been playing Hyper Light Breaker, an early-access roguelike with a chaotic sense of urgency, blending melee combat, exploration, and bullet-hell elements.
Other topics included the state of Windows widgets, the evolution of No Man’s Sky, and the odd development cycle of Civilization 7.
