In news that isn’t much of a surprise XCOM 2 is console bound. After being announced as a PC only game in 2015 gamers were delighted at the prospect of more XCOM however console gamers felt disappointed and excluded by Firaxis as XCOM: Enemy Unknown on 360 and PS3 were fairly strong ports and received positive praise on all systems.

This all changed as today Firaxis announced that XCOM 2 will be coming to both PS4 and Xbox One on the 9th September. The port of won’t be handled in house and 2K along with Firaxis are working with The Workshop to port the title to current gen, they have previously worked on porting games like The Evil Within so hopefully the port will do the game justice. Time will tell but with e3 looming ever so closer expect to see some gameplay on consoles very soon.

If you are unfamiliar with the XCOM franchise or would like to play XCOM: Enemy Unknown then Xbox One users are in luck, the title is currently backwards compatible and will be free to all Xbox Live Gold members June 16-30th which is a perfect way to get involved in the franchise.

See the announcement trailer for XCOM 2 below and for all information on XCOM 2 consoles and PC keep tuned to Out of Lives.
