Rise of the Tomb Raider Coming to PS4 With VR Support & More in October

Lots of new content

Lara Croft’s latest saga Rise of the Tomb Raider is set to be released on October 11th for PlayStation 4 and will include a new story chapter entitled ‘Blood Ties’.

This 20 Year Celebration Edition of the game will also feature a new co-op Endurance gamemode, all previously released DLC, extra expedition cards, outfits & weapons, a limited edition art book, PS:VR support for the newly added ‘Blood Ties’ chapter, plus a new difficulty level, ‘Extreme Survivor’.

Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 year edition

This new version of the game will be available to Xbox One and PC players also, although the game won’t have VR support.

Don’t worry if you’re already a season pass holder of Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox One or PC either, all the new content will be available for you to download for free when the game is released. However, if you own an Xbox 360 the new DLC content won’t be coming to your system unfortunately.

“Blood Ties” is new premium DLC which will allow players to explore Croft Manor in the main story mode, then defend it against a zombie invasion in “Lara’s Nightmare”.  When Lara’s uncle contests ownership of the Manor, Lara must explore the estate to find proof that she is the rightful heir, or lose her birthright and father’s secrets for good. Players can then test their zombie-killing skills in the replayable “Lara’s Nightmare” mode: a haunted Croft Manor where players have new challenges and must rid the Manor of an evil presence.

The newly added ‘Endurance Mode’ will allow players to team up and explore the wilderness together and try to survive the elements by day and the lethal threats by night. “Fire takes fuel, food restores health, and every resource must be hunted, collected, or crafted. Battle to the top of the leaderboards, as others try to beat your longest survival run.”

Extreme Survivor difficulty will see all checkpoints being removed from the game, ensuring only the strongest will forge ahead and survive.

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration Edition will be available at retail and as a digital download for $59.99 in the US. ‘Blood Ties’ and ‘Lara’s Nightmare’ will also be available for purchase to non-season pass holders for $9.99.

We have no price for the UK and Europe as of yet, but we’ll update you when that information becomes available.
