Grand Theft Auto V has managed to reach the number one spot in the UK game charts a full 150 weeks after it’s initial launch in September of 2013.
Developer Rockstar has continued to add free content to the GTA Online portion of the game and this is keeping the game alive. The most recent expansion, Cunning Stunts, is a huge hit with fans and has obviously had an effect on sales.
This is the ninth time the game has reached the number one spot after launch, with the previous time being in March of 2015. Consoles account for the majority of sales with PS4 claiming 49% and Xbox One taking 41%, leaving PC on a meager 10%.
Uncharted 4 sits in the number 2 spot up 19% in sales, while Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens claims third. However, don’t expect GTA 5 to be numero uno next week, No Man’s Sky launches and you can bet your bottom dollar it’ll be breaking some kind of record.
