Tag is directed by Jeff Tomsic and stars Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, Jake Johnson, Isla Fisher, Annabelle Wallis, Hannibal Buress and Jeremy Renner. It tells the story of a group of friends who come together every May since they were all Children to play a game of Tag, but most importantly to try and tag Jeremy Renner’s character Jerry who has never been tagged and intends to retire from the game undefeated.

To put it nicely this film sounds terrible and completely blow my mind when it said in the trailers it was based off a true story. I honestly didn’t think it would click for anyone, and I’m happy to say I was for the most part wrong.

Just like Ocean’s eight last week the thing that carries this film is the cast and the stories message. Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Jon Hamm and Hannibal Buress are a great team throughout the film, there chemistry on screen is so much fun and they keep you smiling till the end.

But the biggest standouts are Isla Fisher and Jeremy Renner. Fisher is so outrageous, she gives you some of the loudest laughs on screens, it’s a real shame Hollywood haven’t gave her more roles like this because she prefect in them.

Renner looks like he had the time of his life filming this movie, even if he did some of it with two broken arms. He was the prefect amount of over the top/James Bond/Jason Bourne all rolled up into one. He gets himself out of difficult stops when the lads gang up on him, he fights likes Bourne and has the charm of Bond, and then he gives you some genuine heart-warming moments neither end.

But like I said this film is a lot of fun for the most part, the thing that was disappointing was the first act, it just felt very slow and out of place, but when the second act starts, and Renner shows up its none stop fun that will keep you entertain till the very end. Oh and bring tissues because the ending is a tissue needing moment.

The Final Verdict

Should you go watch Tag? Yes

Why? because of the cast and the stories messaging.

But! Watch out for the first act it can be slow.
