Variety is reporting that Javier Bardem is in negotiations to join Universal’s Cinematic monster universe as Frankenstein. If he was to step into the iconic role he would be joining a star-studded series of films that includes Tom Cruise in The Mummy, Johnny Depp as The Invisible Man, and Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll.

Other rumors include Dwayne Johnson signing up to play the Wolf Man. It’s not clear if Javier will play the Monster or Dr Frankenstein or even if he will even get his own stand alone movie. The Monster movies are being overseen by Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan. Universal currently have the release dates of three movies, starting with The Mummy on June 9, 2017 and two yet to-be-announced titles coming April 13, 2018 and February 15, 2019.
